I regret to admit I live in downtown Chicago. I hold a Virginia Concealed Carry Permit, but I have absolutely zero 2nd Amendment rights in this city. I cannot “keep and bear arms” or utilize my constitutional rights here without the threat of significant prison time. The same goes for anyone without an Illinois Driver’s License and an Illinois Firearms Identification Card. That’s right, even if you’re visiting Illinois and staying for more than 24 hours you cannot have a firearm in this state. Period.
Yet, countless shootings occur here almost daily. How is this possible? How can so many shooting happen in a city where the 2nd Amendment is ignored and violated? Of course, any Americans who can think for themselves knows the simple answer. The shootings are happening at the hands of criminals. Those who don’t care about gun laws and don’t acquire firearms through legal means.
But this simple and blatantly obvious fact is lost on many. While criminals are to blame for shooting here in Chicago, those with a corrupt agenda blame people who have absolutely nothing to do with the shootings.
Including “leaders” in the faith based community. Here’s what Reverand Michael Pfleger had to say at a recent Chicago rally.
I’m just tired, tired of the NRA. Tired of them prostituting themselves and buying politicians in this country. I’m tired of gun manufacturers and John Riggio from Chuck’s making money off the blood running down our streets, and our children laying in cemeteries. While they live in gated communities where there are no gun shops like Chuck’s.
I’m tired of funerals of babies, while [the] NRA, manufacturers, and Chuck’s, run to the bank making profits from death.
He went on.
At the end of the day you can argue with us [and] you can call us names, but you got to deal with God. And the blood of our children is on your hands. And you will pay for the murder of our children.
No, this is not an Onion story. This is not a late April Fool’s gag. This pastor is literally blaming the NRA for murder in Chicago.
